Dalian is a major coastal city in Liaoning Province in northeastern China, situated on the southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula between the Yellow Sea and Korea Bay. Its long coastline, numerous bays, hills, and waterfront districts give the city a strong maritime character. Dalian is an important port and commercial center, while its urban landscape includes broad streets, public squares, parks, and historic buildings. The city is also known for its seaside setting and temperate climate, with several beaches and coastal recreation areas located within and around the urban area.

Dalian's cultural landscape reflects the city's position as a historic port and its connections with different parts of Northeast Asia. Its architecture includes European-influenced buildings and older structures concentrated particularly around the former port districts and nearby Lüshunkou. Russian Street is one of the city's recognizable historic areas, with buildings and businesses reflecting early foreign influence. The city also has a strong connection to maritime traditions, fishing, and port commerce. Local festivals and public events frequently center on the sea, beaches, walking, and seasonal activities, while regional customs from northeastern China remain evident in food and everyday life.

Dalian's coastline provides several notable attractions. Tiger Beach Ocean Park occupies a large section of the southern waterfront and includes marine animal exhibits, a coral hall, polar exhibits, and a long coastal area. Jinshitan National Tourist Resort, east of the city, combines beaches with unusual coastal rock formations and a national coastal geological park. Xinghai Square is one of Dalian's major public spaces and sits beside the sea, while Bangchuidao Scenic Area includes a beach, wooded hills, and coastal walking areas. The nearby Lüshun area contains historic sites, museums, hills, and coastal landscapes.

Seafood is an important part of Dalian's cuisine because of the city's location on the Yellow Sea and Korea Bay. Local restaurants commonly serve oysters, clams, scallops, sea cucumbers, prawns, squid, and other seasonal seafood. Dalian also has strong connections to northeastern Chinese cooking, including dumplings, noodles, grilled meats, and hearty dishes suited to the region's climate. Sea cucumber is particularly associated with Liaoning's coastal food culture and is used in several traditional preparations. The city's combination of port commerce, seafood markets, coastal parks, historic architecture, and marine attractions gives Dalian a distinctive identity in northeastern China.

Shanghai
Shanghai
Shanghai is a city where contrasting timelines meet at every corner. Once a small fishing village along the Huangpu River, it grew rapidly during the 19th century into a major trading port. Today, its skyline tells a story of that transformation. On one side, the Bund’s colonial-era buildings stand tall in limestone and granite; on the other, the futuristic towers of Pudong, like the Shanghai Tower and Jin Mao, stretch into the clouds.
